Roots

we are roots, heavy and hidden. we are torn away from what once lived steady and sure; we are strengthened by renewed soil. We are roots - messy and connected, reaching for living water, begging for room to grow and fall away. Why do we keep the promises we make - what do we carry?

We extend and plant ourselves where we are and where we have been. We leave ourselves, stretching across the great expanse from generation to generation. We complicate it all and we're intricate; we need more.

Roots grasp like veins and bones jutting out of moss and earth. We are running beneath the surface. We are life (and even when we are not) we carry each other and our root-hearts.
