2013

with aaron, zoey, my sister + her pup sierra

Forgive me for the late post, but we have been playing catch up since we made the 22 hour drive back to Houston. Traveling all around North Carolina made our hearts full, but our bodies tired. We've been busy unpacking, doing a ridiculous amount of laundry, restocking the fridge, and giving lots of love to our kitties who according to the cat sitter were "meowing up a storm" while we were gone. I finally feel like I am getting settled again and dipping my toes into this new year, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I've been a little afraid of the splash.

I've had a lot of amazing moments in 2012, some of which include:
celebrating one year with Aaron
adopting zoey, our amazing pup
Aaron graduating and accepting a big boy job
celebrating so many friends' weddings
moving to Texas and exploring a new home
finding sweet friends in Houston
discovering the writing life is the life for me
being with our loved ones again over Christmas
seeking God in times of loneliness and doubt & finding that He is enough.

We've got some ideas bubbling up around our home in the new year - plans that involve restoration, growth, living simply and frugally, and fostering a love for creativity, health, and learning. We're slowly getting rid of the excess and clinging to He who is sufficient. Hopefully looking back on this year, our closets will be thinner, our hearts will be lighter, our imaginations will be fuller, and our love will be richer. With all of the scheming and cooking and DIY-ing, we are 'pinning' at the the center of our lives a reminder to not abandon our first love, and that beginnings are not about cleaning ourselves up; It's about Jesus and his offer of abundant life and a new creation.

If you're setting any goals for the new year, I'd love to hear about them.
Sharing ideas always seems to invite inspiration and motivation!
